Morris I. Johnson Jr. (Capt. Mo) YARMOUTH — Morris I. Johnson, Jr. died March 30, 2011 in Stuart, FL at the age of 78. He was a high school graduate of John Simpkins School in Yarmouth. After graduation he followed the sea. He joined up with the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and shipped out as a deck hand. He skippered many local freight, fishing and towing vessels including at one time Nantucket's Roll-On-Roll-Off ferry "SEAROAD."
He was employed by the town of Yarmouth in his earlier years as Deputy in the fire department. He was later transferred by appointment of the town to Shellfish Constable. He created the town Natural Resources Department and became its supervisor, responsible for the development and supervising of shellfishing, waterways, harbor master, conservation, and animal control. He held this position until retiring in 1996.
He enjoyed fishing and boating, mostly in Cape waters and Florida. He owned and operated fishing party boat "The Pirate" out of Hyannis and Bass River. He was very active and belonged to several organizations; past president of the Massachusetts Shellfish Officers Assoc., Mass Marine Fisheries Advisory Committee Member, Member and past Commodore of the Hyannis Yacht Club, Commodore of the Pine Island Yacht Club, Hyannis Lodge of Elks member, past President of the Cape Cod Charter Boat Association, Barnstable County Dredge Committee member, Hyannis Anglers Club member and a member of the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors which he surveyed and appraised pleasure and commercial vessels. He enjoyed restoring old boats as a hobby, as well as enjoyed the fellowship of fellow associates and many friends.
He is survived by two sisters, Barbara L. Johnson and Abby K. Johnson, both of Yarmouth; three nephews; three great nieces; and longtime companion Martha Barr.

Wayne Oehme
Wayne William Oehme passed away peacefully at the age of 71 on November 19th 2012 with his loving family at his side after fighting a fearless battle with cancer. His courage to the end was an inspiration to all who knew him. The beloved husband of Bonnie Dow Oehme, the couple was just shy of their 25th anniversary and had just arrived from their home in Mashpee to their home in Florida after enjoying a 16-day cruise from Quebec to Tampa.
